Ultrasound

Our Ultrasound Machine is an incredible tool for diagnosing and treating many podiatry-related concerns.  MRI’S, CT scans, and x-rays cannot be taken while a patient is in motion; but with an ultrasound, patients can move a particular part of their foot or ankle and our Doctors can observe the tendons, muscles, and ligaments that could be injured or contributing to a patient’s pain.  Additionally, our ultrasound can be used for guided injections into the plantar fascia, joints, soft tissues masses, or to drain cysts.

Nerve Fiber Density Analysis

Peripheral neuropathy affects roughly 15-20 million people over age 40 in the U.S.  Symptoms of peripheral neuropathy include burning, prickling, and shooting pain, as well as numbness, tightness, or even coldness in foot/ankle areas.

For patients suffering from these symptoms, a Nerve Fiber Density Analysis biopsy may be obtained in our office in less than 10 minutes.  The doctor will take a small 3 mm biopsy of the skin, which is then sent to a laboratory for testing. The results of this analysis provide objective diagnosis of small fiber peripheral neuropathy, establish qualitative and quantitative baselines, can predict the onset of neuropathy, and help monitor the effects of medical and surgical treatment.

Simply put, our doctors will take a small sample of skin in the office, which is tested in a lab.  We can use the results to confirm peripheral neuropathy, to predict if it is on the horizon, or to visually see if treatments are working.

ABI (Ankle Brachial Index)

The Ankle Brachial Index has been shown to be a specific and sensitive metric for the diagnosis of Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD).   75% of patients with PAD do not have symptoms, and early diagnosis can lead to timely treatment, reducing surgery and hospitalization. Because the ABI test is quick and non-invasive, we test our patient’s ABI so we can be aware of their arterial health and plan treatments accordingly.

In-Office Portable X-Ray

Broken bones aren’t fun for anyone, but we strive to make it as easy as possible.  No need to travel to the hospital for x-rays. In fact, you won't even have to leave your comfortable treatment chair.  Our brand new portable x-ray unit is a handheld design that enables us to take x-rays from any room in our office. Within seconds the image will be ready with incredible clarity, allowing the doctor to asses and make a diagnosis in a fraction of the time.
Shockwave Therapy sessions are short, only about 10 minutes each, and usually require just 3-4 treatments.  It is safe and effective, and can be done in the office without any injections.

Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave Therapy can be used for a variety of conditions and is an effective option in the treatment of Plantar Fasciitis or Achilles tendinosis.  This non-invasive procedure sends “shockwaves” (high energy, acoustic waves) to the affected area. These waves are focused on the damaged tissue, which promotes the bodies natural healing response.  This highly-directed energy promotes regeneration and repair of some soft tissues, tendons, and even bones.

Shockwave Therapy sessions are short, only about 10 minutes each, and usually require just 3-4 treatments.  It is safe and effective and can be done in the office without any injections.
